General information about the GuildWitch bot

Different types of member

Because the bot works together with third parties such as Discord and FFXIV, each of them has their own list of members/users. Therefore, these are the terms we refer to:

• Guild member: Defines a guild member in our system.
• Discord member: Defines a user in the guild's Discord.
• Game member: Defines a character in the FFXIV guild.

The goal is to have 1 Guild member for each person, which can be connected to their Discord and/or Game accounts. While it's more common for game members not having a Discord, it's also possible for a Discord member to not have joined the FC ingame yet. Therefore, we unify all members as Guild member, meaning that our system should contain all users related to the guild.

Only those with a membership rank (Anemone to Mermaid and Starfish) are recorded as Guild Member. The rest (Shrimp) is considered a guest and not present in our system.

Controlling guild members

Users can define their own character by either setting their Discord name to their character name or use the /character set command to define their character name.

Sea Dragons and higher can manage other members with the /member command:

• /member list_unlinked gives a list of Guild- and Game members that are not linked to each other yet.
• /member view gives various information about a specific member
• /member link connects a Guild member to a Game character
• /member unlink disconnects a Guild member from their game character
